The Mongoose Rail Dragster. Part of the legendary “Snake vs. Mongoose” rivalry, this casting was based on Tom “Mongoose” McEwen’s real-life drag racing car. Hot Wheels released it in 1970 as part of their Drag Race Set alongside Don “The Snake” Prudhomme’s counterpart.

The Mongoose Rail features a long, sleek body with a powerful exposed engine and signature redline wheels—designed to capture the look and feel of top-fuel dragsters tearing down the track. It came in Spectraflame red and a few other colors, with authentic racing decals that still turn heads today.

These castings helped bring NHRA drag racing into the hands of kids and collectors everywhere—and they still hold up as icons of both racing and Hot Wheels history.

If you or anyone you know owns any of these vintage treasures, feel free to send a message!
