Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about selling your Hot Wheels collection
Getting Started
Most 1968-1977 'Redline' Hot Wheels have collector value, regardless of condition. Key indicators include:
- Red stripe wheels (redlines).
- Metal base with patent info.
- Chrome details and quality paint.
- Original blister packaging (if present).
Even played-with Redlines typically sell for $20-$50 each, while mint examples can be worth hundreds or thousands. Text us a group photo and we'll give you a free, no-pressure estimate.
For the best evaluation, send:
- Group photo of all cars together (prevents missing any).
- Individual close-ups of packaged cars (if still in blister packs).
- Clear, well-lit photos showing overall condition.
- Multiple angles for rare or unusual cars.
Check out our Picture Guidance page for detailed tips on taking the best photos for accurate valuations.
We typically respond within a few hours, often faster during business hours. Complex collections or rare variations may take up to 24 hours for thorough evaluation.
We understand you want quick answers about your collection's value, so we prioritize fast, professional responses while ensuring accurate valuations.
Payment & Shipping
We offer several payment options:
- PayPal: Payment sent before you ship (we cover the 3% fee).
- Zelle: Fast digital transfer after delivery.
- Check: Mailed after we receive your collection.
- Cash: For local pickups (Utah area).
PayPal is most popular because you get paid before shipping, providing extra security. Zelle and check payments are sent within 48 hours of your package arriving, guaranteed.
Yes! You simply ship with your carrier of choice (USPS, UPS, FedEx) with full insurance and tracking, and we reimburse all shipping and insurance costs as agreed.
Requirements:
- Ship with full insurance for the purchase amount.
- Include tracking number.
- Use secure packaging (we provide guidance).
- Send us tracking info once shipped.
We cover shipping costs up to the purchase amount to ensure your collection is fully protected in transit.
Never. The offer you receive is the exact amount you get, with shipping and fees included.
Unlike some other buyers, we don't:
- Deduct "handling fees".
- Charge for evaluation.
- Reduce offers after inspection.
- Add surprise PayPal or processing fees.
Our quote is our commitment. The only time an offer changes is if cars are significantly different than shown in photos (which is rare with good pictures).
Process & Logistics
Here's the step-by-step process:
- Payment (if PayPal): We send payment immediately after agreement.
- Packaging guidance: We provide detailed packing instructions.
- You ship: Use carrier of choice with full insurance and tracking.
- Tracking: Send us the tracking number.
- Delivery: We confirm safe arrival.
- Final payment: Other payment methods processed within 48 hours.
The entire process typically takes 2-3 days from the first photos to payment.
Currently, we only purchase collections within the United States due to shipping complexity and costs.
We buy from all 50 states and provide free shipping reimbursement nationwide. International shipping costs and customs requirements make overseas purchases impractical for most collections.
This is extremely rare with proper packaging, but if damage occurs:
- Full insurance coverage protects you.
- We help file claims with the shipping carrier.
- You're compensated for any losses.
- We provide detailed packaging guidance to prevent damage.
Insurance ensures you're protected regardless.
Valuation & Collections
We specialize in 1968-1977 Redline Hot Wheels, but also purchase:
- Blackwall Hot Wheels (1977-1982).
- Some later premium series.
- Vintage Matchbox cars.
- Other die-cast collections (case by case).
Redlines are our specialty and where we offer the most competitive prices. For other collections, send photos and we'll let you know if we're interested.
There's no strict minimum, but we typically purchase collections worth $200+ to make shipping economical for both parties.
Even a single rare car can be worth $200-500+, so don't hesitate to send photos of any Redline Hot Wheels, regardless of quantity. We'll let you know if your collection meets our purchase criteria.
Our valuations are based on:
- Current market sales data.
- Condition assessment from photos.
- Rarity and demand factors.
- Recent auction results.
- Collector market trends.
We stay current with market values and adjust our offers based on real-world sales, not inflated "book values" that don't reflect actual market prices. Visit our Value Guide for more details.
You can change your mind anytime before shipping. We understand this can be an emotional decision, especially with inherited or childhood collections.
Once shipped:
- PayPal payments are already sent (non-refundable).
- Other payment methods can be cancelled before processing.
- We can return collections for the cost of return shipping.
We encourage taking time to decide - there's no pressure to rush into a sale.
