1969 Hot Wheels Redline Maserati Mistral

One of the sleekest European cars in the early Redline era, the Maserati Mistral was introduced by Hot Wheels in 1969. Designed by Ira Gilford, it was produced exclusively in Hong Kong and continued through 1971.

The real Maserati Mistral was an Italian grand touring car produced from 1963–1970, with only 948 built. Its 245-hp fuel-injected straight-six was derived from Maserati’s legendary racing engine, giving the Mistral a claimed 0–60 time of 6.8 seconds and a top speed around 140 mph.

The Hot Wheels version features blue-tinted windows, a lift-up hood, detailed headlights and taillights, and the classic Redline wheels. Some examples also came with a black roof, a harder-to-find variation that collectors look for.

A beautiful piece of the 1969 Hot Wheels lineup and a great example of Mattel bringing European automotive style to the Redline era.
