Type:Highlighted Casting

The 1973 Ferrari 312P is a great example of Hot Wheels reusing a strong racing casting while making key updates. This release was made in six different colors, and all versions came from the factory with three white round #60 stickers applied. These stickers are similar, but not identical, to the ones used on the earlier Spectraflame version.

Although it uses the same casting as the 1970 Spectraflame Ferrari 312P, the 1973 release has some noticeable differences. The windshield was omittedflat black detail paint was added to the rear taillight area, and the front wheels were changed to through-hole redline wheels, marking an important transition in Hot Wheels wheel design.

The Ferrari 312P casting didn’t stop there. It carried over into the 1974 Flying Colors line and remained in production through the 1977 release year, making it a casting with a long and interesting run in Hot Wheels history.
